Who is JR?
Hi! I’m Jon Richardson, a media arts specialist living in Portland, OR. Before arriving in the Pacific Northwest, I discovered my passion for creative content back home on the east coast making crude VHS music videos, later honing my skills at Temple University majoring in Film and Media Arts where I developed an interest in nonfiction content production. Starting in 2004, my professional career took me between Philadelphia, New York, and ultimately Los Angeles where I transitioned into producing story for nonfiction television, working on shows for NBC, Discovery, Animal Planet, CMT, History Channel, NatGeo, FOX Sports, and more.
It was also during this time that I discovered audio podcasts, an exciting new (at the time) way to share stories and express creativity. What started as a hobby turned into a passion and nothing makes me happier than helping others grow their personal or professional brand through this rapidly-evolving medium.
After moving to Portland in 2015, my focus shifted to short-form content for web & social media, mostly for marketing with arts & culture organizations. I also had the opportunity to fully commit to launching this business so that I can share my passions and expertise with the next generation of creative media professionals.
In my free time, I run a free online discussion forum for documentary film fans called The WALT (Watch and Learn Theater) and co-host & produce the following podcasts: GOT IT, I Have A Great Idea But I’ll Never Do It, and Ruined Childhoods.
TESTIMONIALS
“Jon is a true professional—we highly recommend him. We enlisted his help to create a promo video for a business-critical event on a crazy timeframe and which included interviewing a partner stakeholder with whom we had only a slight relationship. He delivered wonderfully on all fronts—anticipating our needs, giving us options, providing suggestions, and like a doctor, exhibiting exceptional ‘bedside manner’ when guiding a couple interviewees through the recording process—a potentially high-stress event that Jon navigated with ease. We were impressed with his depth of technical knowledge and experience and felt that we were in good hands. The video turned out exactly as we hoped.”

“When I decided to try my hand at producing podcasts, Jon Richardson was the first person I thought of to help guide me through the process. His insight and experience with everything from microphones to recorders to publishing platforms is unmatched, and he really helped me understand what I needed to do to get up and running quickly. Plus, if I have more questions down the road I know he’ll be there to help me. That is, if he doesn’t reach out to me first with tips and suggestions to make improvements as I publish the podcast. Which he already has done. Because he’s the guy you want to consult with about your next podcasting venture.”
